Service Descriptions

The BSC Service Descriptions describe the service to be provided by the BSC Agents. As a general rule, there is one BSC Service Description for each BSC Agent. The exception to this rule is for the Technical Assurance Agent (TAA) which has two, one for SVA and one for CVA.

Balancing Mechanism Reporting Agent Service Description

This document contains the provisions for the Service Description for the Balancing Mechanism Reporting Agent (BMRA) appointed by BSCCo for the purposes of providing a BMRS.

The BMRS collects and displays Balancing Mechanism and other data in near to real-time to interested parties  and (BMR Service Users). A range of information (historic, current and forecast) is received by the BMRA from the National Electricity Transmission System Operator (NETSO).

BSC Audit Service Description

This is the BSC Service Description for the BSC Auditor, appointed by the Balancing and Settlement Code Company (“BSCCo”), to undertake an operational audit (the “BSC Audit”) in relation to each Audit Year on behalf of Parties and such other ad hoc operational audits as the Balancing and Settlement Code Panel (the “Panel”) may require from time to time. Central Data Collection Agent Service Description

This is the Service Description for the CDCA appointed by BSCCo for the purpose of providing a central data collection service relating to Metering Systems collecting, processing and aggregating metered data associated with Metering Systems registered with the CRA. This also describes the key interfaces between the CDCA and BSC Agents such as the CRA and the SAA, BSC Trading Parties and MOAs.

Central Registration Agent Service Description

The purpose of this Service Description is to describe the responsibilities and obligations of the CRA for the registration, validation and maintenance of valid registration data received from the Parties (including Virtual Lead Parties), CVA Party Agents and BSCCo who are required to register data with the CRA. It describes the reporting and distribution of data from the CRA to the relevant Parties, CVA Party Agents, the National Electricity Transmission System Operator (NETSO), the Supplier Volume Allocation Agent (SVAA), the Balancing Mechanism Reporting Agent (BMRA), the MIDP and BSCCo.

Energy Contract Volume Aggregation (ECVAA ) Service Description

This is the Service Description for the ECVAA appointed by BSCCo for the purpose of providing an energy contract volume aggregation service in connection with the BSC. 

This describes the responsibilities and obligations of the ECVAA for determining and providing the SAA with the Account Bilateral Contract Volume for each Energy Account in each Settlement Period, and receiving and validating Metered Volume Reallocation Notifications and supplying the Metered Volume Reallocations to the SAA. The responsibilities and obligations of the ECVAA under this Service Description are collectively referred to as ‘the ECVAA Service’.

Funds Administration Agent Service Description

This Service Description sets out the responsibilities and obligations of the Fund Administration Agent (FAA) and supplements the Service Requirement for Funds Administration.

The FAA manages the funds transfer between Elexon Clear Limited and BSC Trading Parties for Trading Charges. The FAA also manages the Credit Cover arrangements to ensure that BSC Parties have enough cover when trading within the market. The FAA maintains a Payment Calendar that defines when payments are due for each Settlement Day.

Supplier Volume Allocation Agent (SVAA) Service Description

This defines the key roles of the SVAA in providing Supplier Volume Allocation (SVA), Daily Profile Production (DPP), Market Domain Data (MDD) and SVA Metering System Balancing Services Register services.

The SVAA Agent is appointed by the Balancing and Settlement Code Company (BSCCo). The services of the SVAA are defined in accordance with the Balancing and Settlement Code (the Code) and Balancing and Settlement Code Procedures (BSCPs).
